Music
The New Orleans music scene has always been a playground for trombonist, arranger, composer, producer and Funky Bone band-leader Maurice Trosclair. Born a Crescent City native from the Town of Carrollton in Uptown New Orleans, he was inspired by his musical family to pursue a life in music. At the young age of 2 he took the stage with the legendary traditional New Orleans Jazz band, Dunc's Honky Tonks "The World's Youngest Dixieland Band." To this day, he is deeply committed to the preservation and exploration of all indigeonous forms of New Orleans music including funk, jazz, rock and pop. Most recently, May 2020 Maurice performed with Wynton Marsalis and other jazz musicians for the "Memorial for us All" online tribute honoring those we've lost to the Covid-19 pandemic. Maurice's lyrical/melodic improvisational style is a driving force for his passion to create new music. His original music projects over the years cover a wide spectrum of musical styles including his hit Mardi Gras song "Let's Party, It's Mardi Gras" - by The Nobles Mardi Gras Records, several jingles including "Come Swing with the Zephyrs" and "Canal St. Your Home for the holidays" as well as writing, arranging and producing 3 full length albums, "Healing Grace" 1993 - Rookie Records and "Illumination" 1998 - Rookie Records with his original new-age folk fusion project Polaris. Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) is a leading cause of death in the United States. More than 360,000 cardiac arrests occur outside of a hospital each year. Less than 10 percent of those victims survive. Cardiac arrest can happen to anyone at any time. It is important for companies and organizations to implement a CPR & AED program so employees are prepared to respond to a cardiac arrest emergency. Placing automated external defibrillators (AEDs) in key locations, and making sure employees are trained in CPR and how to use and AED, can mean the difference between life and death.
New Orleans area musician, Maurice Trosclair knows this better than anyone. Since his SCA (Sudden Cardiac Arrest) on Valentine’s Day 2017, he and his wife Nancy have learned so much and become acutely aware of the need for more AEDs in the New Orleans area and to have more people trained in Citizen CPR and AEDs. It is through Heartbeat NOLA that we will accomplish this. It is an Awareness and Education Campaign as well as a Fund-Raising Campaign.Through Heartbeat NOLA, Nancy Trosclair will focus on awareness through public speaking opportunities and on education through teaching CPR courses. Our first focus is to reach deep into the NOLA hospitality and events industries. By training those who work in hotels, restaurants, music venues, DMCs, caterers and festival staffers, we can make a huge difference in the number of people ready to save a life in any situation. Together we will save lives.
